Today we’re building on last week’s lesson on controlling the water-to-pigment ratio. This video will cover the following:

  1. An introduction to the color wheel

  2. Experiment #1: Mixing primary colors

  3. Experiment #2: Mixing with contrasting and analagous colors

  4. Art inspiration with French artist Robert Delaunay

  5. How to create two abstract paintings with colors you learned to mix in your experiments (with alternative project ideas as well)

Here are the supplies to grab for this lesson (see this video for more on suggested watercolor materials):

  • Optional: templates printed on watercolor paper or cardstock

  • OR your choice of paper

  • watercolor palette of basic colors

  • mixing surfaces

  • cup or jar of water

  • a small to medium brush
