Birthdays, a Mother's Day Sale, a New Watercolor Tutorial, and What I'm Reading
Hello there dear ones,
My daughters are turning 14 and 16 this month, and I’m feeling all the emotions! For my oldest, we are researching colleges and looking forward to a driver’s license in the Fall. For my middle, we are looking forward to starting high school in the Fall and playing volleyball with her big sister. They’re growing into smart, responsible, independent, funny, kind people, and I just love watching them grow! I’m so grateful to God’s faithfulness to them and our family.
There were many days when they were little that were overwhelming and frustrating, but in this stage, it feels like I’m clinging to the last few years I have them at home.
Okay, I’m pulling myself together now to make a shop announcement!
Mother’s Day is on May 11th this year. Need some help with a gift? I’m offering 20% off in the shop now through May 5th with the code MOMLOVE.
My hymn prints, card sets, postcard sets, notepads, and stickers make great gifts!
I posted a new watercolor tutorial (for paid subscribers) here on Substack this week. This one teaches you three experiments to try that will help you learn to put down watercolor paint. They’re easy, fun, and great for all ages and skills.
Here is what I’ve posted so far in my “Getting Started with Watercolor” series:
Here’s what I was reading this week:
The Marriage You Want: Moving beyond Stereotypes for a Relationship Built on Scripture, New Data, and Emotional Health by Sheila Wray Gregoire and her husband Dr. Keith Gregoire. I’ll try to do a detailed review when I finish. So far, I’m loving it (and I usually hate Christian marriage books).
(still reading) Jesus Through Middle Eastern Eyes: Cultural Studies in the Gospels
by Kenneth E. Bailey. This was really helpful in understanding a passage in our Luke Bible study this week. Great cultural and historical context for the Gospels.
(still reading) Luke for Everyone by N.T. Wright (part of the New Testament for Everyone series). Love the practical, easy to read commentary on each section of Luke and Wright’s own translation of each passage. Wright provides important contextual and historical information making the passage clear and easy to understand.
I visited a local greenhouse this week and bought some plants to pot this weekend. I also got out my flower seed collection and plan on planting some of those tomorrow too. Can’t wait to get my hands dirty!
Happy weekend everyone. You are so loved!
